Psychotherapy - Counselling - Supervision

therapy room

Why therapy?

Many people come for therapy when they are experiencing difficulties in their lives, loss, bereavement, illness, life crisis, a transition, work or relationship problems, a sense of unhappiness or dissatisfaction, depression, anxiety or simply a desire to know themselves more deeply.

The intention of this contemplative approach is to create a deeper connection with the openness, compassion and wisdom at the heart of our human condition.

This experiential work encompasses our feelings, emotions, sensations, mental processes and their expression in the body. Each person has their own 'way in' and their own way of mapping and describing their experience.

I work from the understanding that we all have inherent health and given the right conditions - orientate naturally towards well-being and wholeness.

What can I expect?

The first meeting is free and lasts for half an hour. It gives you the chance to meet me, describe what you would like to get out of coming to therapy at this time, and to ask any questions you have.

After this initial meeting you may like to take some time to think it over. If you feel you would like to start, there would be an initial short term contract to 'test the water'. A review point is agreed, - usually after 6 weeks. Sessions are weekly, last one hour and cost £45.

I offer two places in my practice for those on a low income at £30 per session. There is quite often a waiting list for these places.

Supervision

I also offer clinical supervision for therapists and Complementary Health Practitioners, based on a contemplative model. I have been a supervisor for the last 10 years, offering both individual and small group supervision.

About Me

I am a UKCP registered psychotherapist with 20 years experience.

Through the eighties I explored many different kinds of therapeutic approaches, studied traditional medicine systems and trained as an ante natal teacher.

After completing a years psychodynamic counselling training, I went on to train in Core Process Psychotherapy at the Karuna institute.

I feel immense gratitude to all of the people who I have trained with and those who have influenced my work in other ways. I'd like to particularily acknowledge Nigel Williams (Psychodynamic Counselling Training), Maura and Franklyn Sills (Core Process Psychotherapy Training), Joanna and Fran Macy(Deep Ecology), Barbara McGavin (Focusing), Llwellwyn Vaughan-Lee (Jungian Dream-work & Sufism), Marie-Louise von Franz (Jungian dream-work), Peter Levine (for his work on healing trauma), Angwyn St Just (Constellation Work/ Social Trauma), Chris Johnston, Alex Wildwood, Maitrisara (Eco-Psychology/'The Work that Re-connects'), Jim Dymond, Patti Howe and Will Parfit, Jack Cornfield, all the colleagues who have supported and inspired me, and my family who have probably taught me more than anyone!
