Craniosacral Therapy

Introduction to Craniosacral Therapy

Every shock, tension, illness and injury can leave its mark on the body - this technique has the ability to restore balance.

With greater balance comes an increased sense of well-being and vitality. You do not have to be ill or have any particular symptoms to benefit.

The easing of life's stresses and the increased sense of vitality and well-being which come from working together are welcome at any time.

Resultant changes can bring greater ease on both mental and emotional levels as well as to the body.

How it works

Sometimes the gentlest approach can achieve the most profound effect. In response to physical knocks or emotional stress, the body's tissues contract.

Sometimes, particularly when the shock is severe or accompanied by strong emotions, the tissues stay contracted.Restrictions in the body's functionsing show up in the way that craniosacral motion is expressed.

Craniosacral therapists are trained to feel this subtle motion in the body, and can use it to find where there is congestion or restriction.

With Craniosacral therapy, you stay fully clothed while the therapist places a hand on you. This gentle ‘listening’ touch (palpation) encourages various areas to release and relax, and monitors the response of your body.

The ability to ‘palpate’, to ‘feel’ the subtle, rhythmic force of the Craniosacral system, allows the therapist to discern your body’s own resources of health.

Craniosacral therapy aims to work with your body to magnify and reinforce its natural tendency to heal itself.

What it can do

babyfeet
Craniosacral therapy may help with emotional and psychological issues as well as addressing physical discomfort and pain.

This therapy has its origins in Osteopathy, and evolved as a separate branch of study in the 1900s.

Its gentleness means that it can be used on people of any age, including babies, children and older people.

The client remains fully clothed and simply lies on a couch - or sits if that is more comfortable. Imbalances in the motion and function of the whole body can be sensed and this encourages a greater potential for health.

Babies & families

Birth is one of nature ’s wonders. It has many subtle and important functions.
It is designed to progress in slow waves and, ideally, it is an empowering experience for both mother and baby.

A natural, healthy birth has a positive effect on baby in a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual way. The experience of labour and vaginal birth is an important step in development.

If a natural delivery has not been possible, it’s vitally important to recognise that both mother and baby are likely to have experienced some shock and trauma. Without treatment, early experiences can set negative patterns for life.

Lynn has specialised in looking at how to resolve these early difficulties and, using Craniosacral therapy, her intention is to give the opportunity for mother and baby to heal.
Parents have reported that Craniosacral therapy can be particularly effective for young children – By its nature this therapy aims to be calming and non-invasive.
Lynn offers a free check-up for babies up to six weeks at her baby clinic at the centre (See below).
