Iris constitution: The general colour and pattern of the stroma of the iris reflect what are known as constitutional types in iridology. There are three main constitutional types but many variations and sub types within the main ones (general guidelines for these three constitutions are given at the end of this information). Diagnosis of iris constitution can be compared to identifying a type forest when flying above it e.g. you can tell if a forest is coniferous, deciduous or tropical by the general pattern and colours it has from above. In the same way as different forests indicate different conditions on the ground so do different iris constitutions indicate different genetic tendencies within the individual. Specific markings: Apart from the general pattern of constitution the iridologist also looks for other markings which stand out from the norm, these markings indicate areas of specific problems or tendencies. There are many different types of markings that relate to different conditions, and depending upon where they are in the iris as to which part of the body they might affect. Holistic diagnosis using Iridology: Although iridology is predominantly genetic and physiological it is generally used in a very holistic way. The way in which an iris chart and constitutional types show the whole body linked together means that the iridologist naturally sees the body as a whole rather than as separate bits. And it is not uncommon to find seemingly separate symptoms suffered by an individual to have an underlying single cause in iris diagnosis. The iris markings can also indicate how much stress and tension is affecting a person and indicate how much their problems may have a non physiological cause e.g. if a person is suffering from a bowel problem the iris can often indicate if it is caused by tension and stress, poor digestive ability, bacterial imbalance or inflammation of the intestines or some other cause. Guidelines for iris constitutions: I will normally indicate which of the following main three constitutions and possibly one or more of the sub constitutions or tendencies you have. This information is given to you so that you can have a better idea of what you need to do to help yourself from an iridology and naturopathic point of view. This information is general and may need some additional adjustments for individual requirements. Lymphatic constitution: Usually benefit from strategies that improve lymphatic flow e.g. vigorous exercise, especially aerobic bouncing (trampoline) and brisk walking whilst swinging the arms in the fresh air, good quality pure water and hydration, skin brushing in the direction of lymph flow, lymphatic massage or drainage, sweating therapies (steam cabinets), a reduction in foods that are mucus forming and congestive (dairy products, white flour bakery products etc), deep breathing of pure fresh air (Pranayama or Yogic breathing), making sure the colon and kidneys are working well, fresh juices, herbs and vitamins that help lymph and mucus membranes. Haematogenic constitution:Usually benefit from blood tonics and cleansing herbs and foods that build and cleanse the blood e.g. dark green vegetables, dark berries (cherries, grapes etc), watercress, red cabbage, carrot, beetroot, spinach, fresh juices (wheatgrass, chlorophyll, carrot, beetroot, greens), whole grains, pulses, seeds and nuts. Avoid or reduce fried and fatty foods and chilled foods and drinks. Make sure the colon and liver are working well. Biliary constitution: This constitution usually needs to pay attention to looking after the liver, gallbladder and pancreas e.g. avoid fried and fatty foods, animal fats and hydrogenated margarines (butter or ghee are OK in small amounts), reduce refined sugar, alcohol, salt, coffee and red meats. Increase consumption of a wide selection of vegetables and fruits, whole grains, use olive oil for cooking and add flax seed oil to salads with lecithin granules, fresh juices (celery, wheatgrass, beetroot, spinach, parsley, cucumber), eat more artichokes and asparagus. This constitution can sometimes have a sensitive digestive tract that would benefit from avoiding or reducing wheat and dairy products. |
