Glastonbury Why Wi-Fi Campaign
Somerset County Councillor for Glastonbury, Councillor Alan Gloak, said: “It’s important that Somerset stays ahead of the game. By helping our local businesses be more competitive and addressing their needs we are allowing them to realise their full potential.” Buisness Survey Results of Survey of 76 Town Centre businesses Were you consulted before Glastonbury Wi-Fi was installed in town and accessible on your premises?
Summary of comments from business surveys Inadequate consultation. We have been mislead. It should not be necessary with broadband already available. Needs removing. A disgraceful use of mankinds so called wisdom! Not sure who will benefit from this especially as Wi-Fi is now available at a reasonable cost from many companies. We don’t need or want Wi-Fi! Our own Wi-Fi seems to be adversely affected since installation. We strongly object. We were all unaware of the Wi-Fi until symptoms had been in evidence for weeks. Sadly there continues to be a lack of public consultation within Glastonbury. Turn it off now! For whom does it benefit? I believe that it is irresponsible and possibly criminally negligent to impose this technology on potentially vulnerable people. I think it’s appalling that residents were not consulted on this and I am very disappointed in the blatant disregard for our health by SCC. Our volunteer numbers have reduced (due to Electro-sensitivity) We will be considering immediate legal action. This service must be closed down a.s.a.p. for the sake of the health of all who live in this town. As this is adversely affecting Wi-Fi users all over town- its time it was switched off!
